After obtaining my Masters degree in Building Engineering and Architecture in Italy, I have decided to come to Australia to improve my English and find out more about Australian culture. Last year, I was an Au Pair for a lovely family in Torquay, taking care of their 2 years old little girl. I am currently working part time in a cafe in the city and undertaking a Diploma in Project Management (weekends only). I'm the eldest of 5 daughters and since I was little I used to take care of all of them when our parents were at work. I loved to cook for them and spend time together. When I was 18 years old I spent a summer working as an Au Pair for 3 kids (aged 3 and 2 years old and 6 months), then I worked as a Nanny in different families with kids aged between 6 months and 12 years old. I love travelling and exploring new places, as well as spending my free time in open spaces. I'm a funny and responsible person, with an open mind and a lot of energy.

I am a very friendly, outgoing and caring. I have a Master of Science in Psychology and early child development has always been something I am interested in. I started babysitting when I was 15 and have since then always worked together with families. In this time I was able to gain experience through all ages from new born babies to teenagers. When I was 16 I started looking after a boy with down syndrome for over two years. So I also have experience with children with special needs. I am very active and love being outdoors, through my studies I know what developmental stages the children go through and know what activities are best to challenge them and promote a healthy development. I love cooking and have a big passion for healthy food choices. Also I am willing to do minor household duties. In my spare time I play violin and am always happy to do do creative things such aas drawing and crafting. All these things are easily integrated into child care, that's why I am never running out of ideas for fun activities. I see myself as an example of good behaviour to kids, that's why I take extra care of my language, behaviour and body language. Since I went to a Canadian high school for a year and through my extensive travels my English is at a nearly native level.

I decided to move down to Melbourne to pursue my creative pursuits, and my career as an art therapist. I am looking for a job to support me on this journey. I have had a myriad of experience with children of all ages from new born's to teen's. I have been looking after children now for more than 4 years and really enjoy it. I have baby sat for individual children and groups of children, large families and small families. I enjoy the energy that children have and the curiosity they have with life. When looking after children my aim is the keep them away from screens and get them outdoors and learning. As I enjoy the outdoors being an avid surfer since I was 3 years of age. I believe a healthy diet, I have always enjoyed the process of cooking. When I was a child I spent time in the kitchen and think this is also a great thing to do with children of all ages. With the kids I have previously looked after I have also got them involved in creative process's such as painting and drawing and just creating and experimenting with colors and different materials. I have a full drivers license and a reliable car. As a care giver it is important to be patient and articulate I believe I am both these things.

Hi, I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Melbourne. I'm technically 'local' but have lived and studied overseas for the better part of 2 decades. I love babies and kids, and though I'm not a professional caregiver, I am an eldest sibling and a very hands-on aunt of 14 nieces and nephews (at last count), and have taken the kids when my family members needed to work or travel. I've been a volunteer at the creche and children's church for a total of about 8 years between 2001 and 2015 and done some babysitting for the neighbour's kids (some who are now off to college..!). My dynamic with kids is gentle and kindly. They generally see me as a peer because I'm also kid-sized and have the luxury of time and patience to do the activities they enjoy and listen to what they have to say. I don't do particularly well playing in a tough or strict role, and will try to reason with behaviours that should change and ignore tantrums. I'm happy to help out with homework, cleaning up (vacuuming/ sweeping/mopping/doing dishes, drying and putting them away) and laundry (hanging up/taking down/folding clothes), and can make sandwiches, toast and cereal, but am not much of a cook. Much of the rest of my time is spent at Uni library ploughing through research papers and travelling.

  • Avery Q - 19 year old Female   Last logged on 22-May-2017

I'm an active, friendly and hard-working person who has 3 years of childcare experience. I love working with children, as they are a constant stream of entertainment and laughter. I readily engage with children, which more than often includes running around with them or participating in their imaginary play. I personally love to be outside so I encourage the children I watch to get some sunshine and play outside. My first job working with children was at a YMCA Childcare facility where I supervised large groups of children aged 3 months to 12 years. Then I had a number of families where I regularly babysat in evenings and weekends. I’ve also had a part-time and full-time nanny, and au pair position where I was trusted to look after the children, organize fun outings, make healthy meals, transportation, and discover an ideal daily or nightly routine.

Hi there, My name is Gabby and I'm a part time student situated in Brunswick looking for ongoing part time nannying work. I have a natural love for children, and have pursued nannying as a part time role for the last 5 years. I have experience working for a variety of different families, and as a carer for children ranging from 5 months to 12 years. I am also confident in providing care for multiple children. I´m currently studying Master of Environment in The University of Melbourne and I also teach Spanish as a foreign language. Althought I have no First Aid formal certification, I have the knowledge since I was trainned for it when I was part of the Scout movement. Little bit about me: Since 2013 I work with environmental NGO's and in projects associated with educational environmental activities such as teacher´s trainning programs, kid´s environmental stories books and kids scientific congresses. I was a participant of the Scout movement for 12 years, I love to camping, travel and learning from other cultures. If you need any certification about my degrees, my work experience in environmental education or my current enrollment at Uni, I also be happy to provide you copies of it. Have a good day!

  • Mascha K - 21 year old Female   Last logged on 29-Mar-2017

Since my mother runs a day care centre and she took me there a few times when I was younger, I realized that I like being around, playing and caring for children. I had so much fun that I started to babysit a three year old boy called Luc. I saw him grow up and become an independent 8 year old boy. I then babysitted his younger brother Matteo who is 4 years old. Working with children isn't always all sunshine, but of course you know that. ;) There were a few situations where babysitting became quite stressful. For example when Matteo would wake up at night, cry and wouldn't want to go to sleep again. It once took me almost two hours to calm him down and manage to have him sleep again. But this, of course, is part of the job and the positive experiences more than make up for it. Working with children and their affection can really make one forget a bad day. There were days when Matteo and I just stood on a sidewalk (on the way to the playground) and he couldn't stop watching the different colors and shapes of cars going by. Or situations where we danced through the apartment, me singing and him laughing at the top of his lungs. Moments and memories like these are really what drives me to work with children. There was an internship I did that doesn´t have anything to do with children but was a wonderful experience nevertheless. I'll never forget about it and it may even changed me a bit as a person. I worked and lived in a home for mentally and physically challenged people for three weeks. While the first days where rough, as soon as I adjusted myself to the situation and people, everything was great. Similar to children the residents were very accepting and lovely. I really miss them and appreciate the time I had there and the work I was able to do with them. After I finished my A-Levels in 2015 I went to Auckland, New Zealand and worked there as an au-pair for a year. I was looking after two amazing and intelligent girls from the age of 4-5 and 6-7 I was really lucky with my hostfamily and am still in contact with them as they became a huge part of my life. Parts of my job there, were preparing lunch and afternoon tea, picking up occasionally from school and kindy, walking with my kids to after school activities as well as doing dishes, cleaning and the laundry. As I spend years working with kids and a whole year taking responsibility on a daily basis for two girls in the age of 4 and 6 (5 and 7 at the end) plus managing to do the household at the same time I would consider myself as really experienced in the profession of childcare. I enjoy to take responsibility for people around me, I'm a decent person and have a calm temper. One of my best friends once called me her ›bastion of calmness‹ and I really like that idea. I have a habit of writing to-do lists, so a pocketbook is always nearby. I like to draw and sketch, for relaxation I like reading books, doing sports or singing. I took singing lessons for basically my whole life up until around four years ago and I dance ballet for two years until about three years ago. I really enjoy having alone time sometimes where I just go for a walk and contemplate for a bit. Nature is a big inspiration for me, even though (or maybe because) I always lived in big citys. You can really count on me as I am a reliable person with a lot of experience. I want to become an english or art teacher after my year in Australia. In Germany we don´t have child care certificates as you do so I never got one. Also I did quite a few first aid courses. Best regards, Mascha

I enjoy the outdoors, cooking, painting, reading, singing and all things creative. Hi, I'm Sian, I currently work part/full time with children and am looking to pick up some more nannying and/or babysitting hours - regular or casual. I have 8+ years of experience (the last six years I've been working either part time or full time) and I've completed my Cert III in Childcare (including First Aid), WWCC and am a registered carer. I have my full drivers licence, a car and a forward-facing child seat with a 5-point harness. I consider nannying/childcare my career and full-time job. I've cared for children from 6 wks old, and love working with children of all ages. In a few words I'd describe myself as easy-going, mindful, fun, social and responsible. I've done a lot of varied work involving drop-offs, pick-ups, driving children, attending activities, hosting parties, caring for children when they are sick or injured, assisting with toileting and toilet training, developmental delays and challenges, overnight stays, errands, homework, craft, cooking and organising and participating in outings. I charge $25/hr during the day for 1 child, plus $5/child, and $25 flat rate from 7pm. I work part-time nannying/babysitting hours at the moment (up to 25/30hrs per week) and am generally quite flexible with times and dates. I'm prepared to do child-related household tasks (i.e. clearing meals, packing up toys, cooking/preparing meals, shopping) and very low-key housework if time permits. I love stories, games, singing (although I'm lacking in talent!), activities based around and aimed at certain areas of development and observing children develop and grow and change! I have experience with feeding, changing, toileting, settling, bathing and actively guiding behaviour. Regards, Sian

I am studying psychology, with the hopes of becoming a clinical psychology. I am the eldest girl of 4 sisters (currently aged from 21 to 12), having grown up taking care of the youngest, sometimes for weeks at a time whilst my parents have been away. I have experience looking after kids outside of my family and have also volunteered at a childcare center for 3 months. I am fairly flexible and open for last minute jobs of an evening for casual babysitting on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Or even during the week. The only day I cannot do is Thursday due to uni commitments. I have my full drivers license and a car. I LOVE children and would be privileged to get know and build a relationship with your child. I do not mind doing housework or cooking and I adore all animals.
